Mr. Severn, the scientific lecturer, and family are passengers. LYTTELTON, Wednesday. Arrived : Easby, from Fort Chalmers, at 3.25 p.m—Kopati, at 3.45. She was visited by a large number of people during her stay in port. She aaUed for Port Chalmers at 6 p.m., with the lighters Faithful and Trusty in tow. Sailed : Taranaki, for the South. Passengers for Dunedin; Mr. and Mrs. Eyen, Mrs. Armstrong, and Mrs. Fairweather. The ketch Forest Queen, from Pelorus Sound, laden with timber, aarived in harbor yesterday. The p.s. Manawatu, full up to the hatchways with cargo, sailed for Wanganui yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock. The s.s. Hawea sailed for Northern ports at 12.15 p.m. yesterday. The barque Anne Melhuish arrived in port from Newcastle at 2.30 p.m. yesterday with 550 tons coal on hoard. She left Newcastle on the 9th instant, and experienced strong southerly wind across to within 60 miles of Cape Farewell, when it fell calm, and continued so for four days, when she got a breeze from the N.W, at midnight on Monday,, and passed the Cape same morning; got off the Heads at 3 o’clock yesterday morning, and beat into the harbor, anchoring as above stated. The topsail schooner Young Dick set sail at the “wharf yesterday, and with a strong fair breeze cleared the port bound for Lyttelton. Some difficulty was experienced in clearing the shipping lying about the wharf, but Captain Armit handled his little craft ad* mirably, and navigated her between the various vessels safely. Messrs. McMeckan, Blackwood, and Co.’s s.s. Arawata, with the inward Suez mail on board, arrived in harbor yesterday afternoon. She left Sandridge railway pier at 9 p.m. on the 15th, with 960 tons cargo, 33 saloon, and 20 steerage passengers; cleared the Heads at 11.30 p.m., and passed Swan Island at 5.30 p.m. next day; experienced strong S.W. and S. winds with a high sea for the first three days out; thence to arrival at Bluff at 4.30 a.m. on the 19th light southerly winds and fine weather, making a smart run of 4 days 3 hours ; discharged 70 tons cargo, and sailed at 12.30 p,za. same day, arriving at Port Chalmers at 11.40 p.m.; delivered there 300 tons cargo, and sailed at 4 p.m. on the 20th, arriving at Lyttelton at 9 a.m. on the 21st; landed 130 tons cargo, and sailed at 5 p.m.; encountered a strong head wind, and arrived in harbor at 12.30 p.m. yesterday. The Arawata discharged 70 tons cargo here, and sailed for Nelson at 7-30 o’clock last evening. The s.s. Tui left Foxton at 7.30 a.m. yesterday, and made a smart run down to this port of seven and a half hours. The Tui will sail for Kaikoura and Lyttelton to-night. The s.s. Napier left Blenheim at 3 p.m. yesterday, and arrived here at 11 o’clock last night.
