NEW BILL.

THE WELLINGTON COLLEGE ACT AMENDMENT BILL. This Bill is introduced by Mr. Bunny, and provides that Sir William Fitzherbert and William Waring Taylor, Esq., shall be Governors of the Wellington College until the expiration of ten years from the passing of the Act. The members of the House of Representatives for the city of Wellington for the time being are also to be Governors of the College ex officio. In case Sir William Fitzherbert or Mr. Taylor, or any of the present governors, shall cease to be a governor, the remaining governors are to transmit to the Governor of the colony the names of twice the number of persons to be elected to fill the vacancy whom they shall consider elegible, and from the list the Governor is to select and appoint. The Board is to be reappointed after a lapse of ten years in the same manner, the retiring governors being eligible for re-election. The Governor of the colony is to have power to lease portions of the College reserve enumerated in a schedule appended to the Bill, and subdivided into building sites. Section 13 of the Wellington College Act, 1872, is repealed in so far as it is inconsistent with this Act.
