We are informed on very good authority that the ranks of the .Opposition haye been seriously thinned during the last couple of days ; Certain hen. members haying had. ample time for reflection, have awoke to the' fact that there are but seven portfolios for distribution should a! new Cabinet be formed. New, as no less than twenty-one gentlemen decided to vote against the iniquitous land policy of the Government, on the distinct understanding that each,was to have a place in.the new. Cabinet, it has become plain that there must be fourteen severe disappointments 'awaiting an equal number of" patriots. Consequently, there has been a wonderful reawakening to the fact that there are really redeeming points about the Government, whilst the conduct of some prominent members of the Opposition is such as would disgrace any party. As a matter of fact, it might have been seen from the first that a Government prepared to carry on honestly and straightforwardly, without being bullied, taunted, or cajoled, into giving a chance to a few malcontents and Parliamentary nuisances, could not fail of securing ultimate; victory. ’
