. (PBR-S.S. ROTORUA AT .AUCKLAND.) Sydney, August 8. 1 ; J. K. Emmett (Fritz) threw himself into the sea-from Glenelg Jetty, but was dragged out by a fisherman. When rescued he laughed heartily. ' He denies attempting to commit suicide, and said he only wanted a hath. ’ Grave charges have been made against Dr. Beaney, senior surgeon of the Melbourne Hospital—that he admitted'non-professional witnesses to see a .delicate operation on a female under chloroform. The Victorian Government intends to invite the neighboring colonies to co-operate in enacting legislation against runaway husbands.
