In the British House of Commons Sir Stafford Northcote, replying to a question, said that a special vote to cover the expense of despatching troops on foreign service (if such should be found necessary) would not be required. He considered it needless to explain the intentions of the British Government, in view of the military situation in Europe, before the prorogation of Parliament. ; Sydney, August 2. , A telegram published here, dated August 1, states that a great battle, lasting over two days, has taken place between the Turks and the Russians. ■The former gained a complete and decisive victory. The Russian loss in killed was 8000 and in wounded 16,000. 1 Bombay, August 1, 12.11 p.m. The Bangalore, with the Suez mails, left Galle on the 31st. Russia has not answered Lord Derby’s despatch relative to the atrocities committed by Christians on Mussulmans in Bulgaria. i There have been further disorderly scenes in the House of Commons.
