W, Eobinson,.Mr. and Mrs. Von Slaven and child. Mr. Mrs. and Miss Xhidsworth, Misses Webb (2). Mrs. Hoskins, Messrs. J. B. Steele, Ellis (2), and H. Eaupfield. The s.s. Tanpo sailed for Northern ports yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock. She transhipped a large Quantity of cargo from the s.s. Wanaka, from South. The ship City of Madras will, it is anticipated, ■finish discharging her cargo from London this week. About 400 tons, principally iron, have to be put out. The ships Broomhali. for Newcastle, and the Ocean Chief, for Lyttelton, are at present waiting for a fair breeze to enable them to leave the harbor. The brigantine Hannah Broomfield sailed for Kaipara yesterday forenoon. The schooner Julius Vogel, Captain Johnson, with a cargo of coal from Westport—the first from the Wellington Company’s mine there—arrived in harbor yesterday forenoon. She left Westport on the 23rd ult.. and had strong S.E, and E. winds throughout, having had to beat nearly the whole way. A very heavy sea was experienced in the Strait on Monday Tast. The s.s. Tui is expected to leave Foxton to day, and arrive here same evening. She will return to Foxton to-morrow. The brig Star of the Mersey has come off the Patent Slip, after having her bottom, which proved to be in a sound condition, examined. The Eingarooma will sail for Nelson this afternoon. The ketch Falcon left Blenheim at 10.30 a.m. yesterday, experienced.fresh S.E. winds across, and arrived here at 9 p.m. Eeports passing the Hannah Broomfield and Excelsior at anchor In Wdrser Bay. The "Union Company's s.s. AVanaka, Captain-McGil-Hvray, arrived in harbor from the South; yesterday. She left Port Chalmers at 10 p.m. on the 28th ult.. and arrived in Lyttelton at 7 p.m. on the 29th; sailed again at 5 p.m. on the 30th, and arrived here at 10 a.m. yesterday. Had fine weather throughout. AVe thank Mr. Hart, purser, for files, &o. The AVanaka will sail for Auckland and East Coast ports to-day. The Grey River Argus of the 26th ult. reports that an attempt was made to launch the schooner Mary Ogilvie into the lagoon, but it was unsuccessful. The vessel was on the ways all right, and everything being prepared the chocks were knocked out, but as soon as the vessel began to near the water the weight was too much for the ways, and they sank in the nmd, leaving the schooner in enly about a foot of water at high tide. She will have again to be lifted, or lie where she is until a heavy Hood occurs and floats her off. The s.s. Stormbird, for Napier, got away at 5 a.m. yesterday. The s.s. Taranaki, from the North, will arrive here to-morrow morning. She will sail South same day.
