For Lyttelton: Captain Norris and Mr. Holt.—Norval, for Tonga.—Augusta, for Levuka. NAPIER. Monday. The weather is very stormy, with terrific sea. The Kiwi made an attempt to come in yesterday, but had to put to sea again. The Rotorua made a similar attempt this morning, and was also compelled to put to sea again. LYTTELTON, Monday. Arrived ; Charybdis, from Mercury Bay. Sailed: Wanaka, for the North, at 4.30 p.m. Passengers for Wellington : Messrs. J. G. Brown, J. Monsen. Hislop, Hobbs, Ellen, Fox. For Napier: Mr. C. Jayton, Mrs. Hodge. PORT CHALMERS. Monday. Sailed: Stella, for Wellington, via Brothers Island. Arawata, for Bluff.—Ringarooma, for North. Passengers; Mr. and Mrs. Tynchons and family (2). The warnings which were sent out on Friday afternoon last to expect easterly gales have been amply verified. Fresh easterly gales were experienced on the Fast Coast with a very heavy sea s ! nce Friday, and at Napier the sea has been so heavy that the Kiwi had to put out to sea. and the Rotorua to pass on without communicating there. The s.s. Napier will, it is expected, commence her new trade to Blenheim to-morrow. Mr. Swain, proprietor of the Union Hotel, who has been so long and favorably connected with Turnbull's firm as providore to their vessels, will of course, by the transfer of the steamers to the new owners, cease to occupy that position. The s.s. Wakatipu, from Sydney, is expected to arrive here on Friday next. The Government steamer Stella left Port Chalmers for this port via The Brothers yesterday, and may be looked for here to-morrow. The s.s. Wanaka left Lyttelton at ~£3o p.m. yesterday, and will arrive here this forenoon. She will sail for Napier. Poverty Bay, Tauranga, and Auckland at noon to-morrow. The ship Rakaia has made the passage Home from thi« port in 81 days. The schooner which arrived in port on Sunday evening proved to be the Colonist from the Manukau, with a full cargo of kauri timber. The following steamers sailed last night;—Tui, for Foxton. at S p.m.; Manawatu. for Wanganui at 1 p.m.; Luna, for Greymouth, at 8 p.m.; Stormbird,for Napier.
