(REUTER'S SPECIAL 'lO PRESS AGENCY.J [The following telegram was received at tire New Zealand Times office at 3 o’clock this morning]:— Bombay, July 23, 12.55 p.m. Serious riots in connection with the trade disturbances have occurred in Chicago. The military have been called out, and fired upon the mob, killing and wounding 130 persons. The Russians have invested Silistria.
Singapore, July 29, 10.57 a.m. Sulieman Bey, who commanded the force that operated against Montenegro, defeated ICarabunar (sic). An agitation has commenced in San Francisco against the Chinese Vigilance Committee. Bombay, July 27, 10 a.m. In the House of Commons, through the obstructiveness of a few Irish members, which culminated in a tumultuous and unprecedented scene, Parnell was ordered to leave the House, and was suspended until Friday, when Sir Stafford Northcote will submit a motion to alter the rules, to facilitate the business. Bombay, July 27. The Russians have been repulsed at Silistria.
A despatch from Consul Loftus to Lord Derby says that fears are entertained of terrible vengeance, on the part of the Mussulmans, for the Russian atrocities. Singapore, July 28.
A Turkish arin, corps concentrated at Plevna threatens the Russian communications with Roumania.
The Turkish landwehr (called the sedentary army) has been called out.
