Sydney, via Napier and Auckland.—Rotorua, 29th. BY TELEGRAPH. AUCKLAND, Wednesday. Sailed:Taupo for South, via Napier, at 5 p.m. Passengers—Saloon: For Wellington—Miss Connell, Messrs. Chalmers, Fossetfc, Hare, Meek, and Berton. PORT CHALMERS, Wednesday. Arrived : The Wanaka, from Lyttelton.—Lady Ruthven, ship, from London, after a passage of eighty-two days from port to port, and seventy-nine from land to land. She brings forty-nine passengers, and 3000 tons of cargo. On Hay 16 a second-cabin passenger named Mrs. North died from the fourth attack of paralysis, and on July 20 a saloon passenger, Mr. Gilbert Neville, aged 28, died from consumption. The s.s. Hawea will leave this port for the South at 3 p.m. to-day (Thursday), instead of Friday as previously advertised, H.M.S. Sappho sailed for Nelson during Tuesday •night, and arrived there yesterday. She will remain at Nelson for about ten days, and will then return to this port. The ketch Thames from Tory Channel, with a cargo of whale oil, arrived in harbor at 1 p.m. yesterday, and got alongside the wharf at 2.30 p.m. The ketch Falcon arrived here from Blenheim yesterday afternoon. She left there the previous day, and had light southerly winds and calms across. She brought one passenger and a full cargo of produce. The s.s, Tui came off the Patent Slip yesterday, and steamed round to the wharf. The little steamer has received a most thorough overhaul, particularly in the machinery. The new shaft which was fitted into her some time ago was found to contain a serious flaw, and consequently was discarded and another supplied in its place. Two new blades have also been fixed on the propeller. The Tui sailed for Kaikoura and Lyttelton at 6.30 p.m. yesterday. A telegram has been received from the AgentGeneral (Sir Julius Vogel), announcing the sailing of the three first immigrant ships of the season for New Zealand, viz., the Wairoa on the 9th inst, with 190 immigrants for Wellington ; the Waitangi, with 258 immigrants for Lyttelton ; and the James Nicol ■ Fleming, with 284 immigrants for Port Chalmers. Total number of immigrants, 632. The s.s, St. Kilda sailed for South at 5.30 p.m. 7 The s.s. Kiwi left Napier at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, and arrived here at 8 o'clock last evening. She will sail for Castlepoint and Napier to-day. The barque Ocean Chief is expected to put out the last of her cargo from New York for this port to-day. She has 200 tons of careo on hoard for Lyttelton ; but requires about fifty tons of ballast to stiffen her before she proceeds to that port. Messrs. McMeckan, Blackwood, and Co.’s steamship Arawata, Captain "Underwood, arrived in port from Melbourne, via the South, yesterday morning. She left Samlridge Railway Pier at 3 p.m. on the 16th inst., and as there was a thick fog prevailing, proceeded under easy steam until passing the lightship, when it lifted ; cleared the Heads at 6 p.m., and passed Swan Island at 3-20 p.m. next day ; experienced light easterly winds, with a high head sea and very thick weather until passing the Solanders at 9.45 a.ra. on the 21st, arriving at the Bluff at 4 p.m same day; discharged 100 tons of cargo, and sailed at 7 a.ra. on the 22nd, arriving at Port Chalmers at 7 o’clock same night; discharged 175 tons cargo, and sailed at 4 p.m. on the 23rd, arriving at Lyttelton at 7.30 a.m. on the 24th; sailed at 3.30 p.m., and arrived in port at 6.30 am. yesterday. The Arawata discharged 50 tons of cargo here yesterday, and sailed for Nelson at 9 p.m. She is expected back in port this evening.
