Arrived: Clio, from Wellington, The weather indications up to a late hour last evening were for strong gales from any direction from south-east round to north by eastward, with still further fall in the barometer. The schooner Atlantic arrived in harbor at 1 o clock yesterday afternoon from Picton. She left there on Thursday last, and had light winds and calms across. The p.s. Manawatu sailed for Wanganui at 12.45 p.m. yesterday with a full general cargo. The schooner Kate McGregor arrived in port from the Manukau with a full cargo of kauri timber. The s s. Easby is expected to arrive here to-morrow from Sydney, via the South. She will sail for Newcastle direct on Monday. The s.s. Stormbird arrived in port from Napier at 180 p.m. yesterday. She left there at 1.15 p.m. the previous day, and experienced fine weather throughout. The Stormbird will not sail again for North till Tuesday next. Messrs. McMeckan, Blackwood, and Company s s.s. Albion arrived in port yesterday from Melbourne via the West Coast. The Albion left Melbourne at 1.20 p.m. on the 11th; cleared the Heads at 5.40 p.m., and passed the Sisters at Ip.m. on the 12th. Had splendid weather on the run over, accompanied with light easterly winds, and made Hokitika at 6.30 a.m. on the 17th; was tendered, and left at 2.53p.m. same day, making Greymouth in a few minutes under the two hours; left Greymouth at 4.20 p.m., and arrived at Nelson on the ISth, after 23 hours passage; sailed again at 2.30 p.m. on the 19th, and arrived here at 3 a.m. yesterday. Had fine weather up the coast. The Albion is now in charge of Captain James Tozer, formerly of the Claud Hamilton, Captain Clark having exchanged boats with him. The Albion sailed for Melbourne and Hobarton via the South, at 3.30 p.m. yesterday. , The schooner Young Dick had a very heavy passage up fre/rn Lyttelton to Melbourne.. She left Lyttelton on the 2nd ultimo, and had fine weather and variable ■winds till the 17th ultimo, and from that date to the 27th experienced heavy westerly gales, and in order to ease the schooner Captain Armit had to cut away the jibboom, which took the foretopgaßant mast with it. The Young Dick was loading at Melbourne for this port when the Albion left. The s.s. Napier arrived here from Foxton yesterday morning. She will sail for the same port to-day.
