TENDERS are invited from those desirous of leasing the Ferry from the Eastern to the Western Spit for a term of five years. The lessee will have to provide a steam launch to carry not less than twenty passengers. The ferryman will have to be in attendance from sunrise to sunset daily (Sundays included). Launch to run every half hour if required. The lessee to provide a suitable punt, capable of carrying over a team of bullocks and dray. The launch to have sufficient power to tow punt across when required. Specifications to be seen at the office of the Board’s Engineer, Napier, of whom full particulars can be obtained. The whole of the above to be subject to approval of the Harbor Board or their Engineer. Tenders must be sent in not later than 11 a.m. on AUGUST the 7th, 1877, addressed to the Chairman of the Napier Harbor Board, and marked “ Tender for Ferry.” The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted.
