Sea. An income of £IOO,OOO a year is required to enable the Corporation to carry on properly. At present the city liabilities, exclusive of the sewage and water debt, amount to nearly £IBO,OOO, and these must go on increasing unless the revenue be increased. It was resolved to ask permission of Parliament for authority to enforce a lighting rate to the amount of £12,000 ; rates on public buildings equal-to £3500, and a wheel tax to yield £7OOO ; and to ask for a sum of £20,000 on the cstimatos of the colony to relievo the necessities of the Corporation.
