TOWN BELT LEASES.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES, SIR, —About these leases, regarding which Mr. Travers, I see, is clamoring for his pound of flesh. I understand that the Council, to save the tenants from a high charge, agreed to execute such conveyances as might be sought for by its own officers ; but Mr. Travers was angry, and called tho Councillors tailors or ' ■ ' propose such a thing, and under his threats, it jthose of the weaker sort, ultimately ■*- succumbed at discretion. If the tenants are equally weak, Mr. Travers will manage his “ little bill.” I don’t see much need for leases at all, but those who wish for them are under no obligation to get them from Mr. Travers. They cs.n employ their own solicitors.—l am, &c., T. L. S. Wellington, June 30.
