BY TELEGRAPH. AUCKLAND, Friday. Arrived: Halley Bayley, fromliobarton; Ephemy, at Thames, from Lyttelton. Kaipara Shipping.—Arrived; Hannah Barratt, from Wellington.
The p.s. Manawatn left Wanganui at 5.30 p.m. on Thursday, and arrived in port at 7 o’clock yesterday morning. Experienced fine weather down. The Manawatu returned to Wanganui yesterday, quitting the harbor at 2.15 p.m.
The s.s. Kapier sailed for Foxton at 2.20 p.m. yesterday. The steamer Ifawea will leave for Southern Ports at 8 o’clock to-nivht. The ketch Falcon arrived from 'Blenheim yesterday forenoon, and sailed for the same place in the evening. The s.s. Tui left Lyttelton at 7 p.m. on the 7th: arrived at Kaikoura at 0 a.m. on the Bth; sailed acrain at 9.30 a.m., and arrived in port at S3O p.m. Fine weather throughout. The Tui will sail for Foxton on Monday. The ketch Reliance anchored In port at 0 o’clock last night. She is from Kaipara with a cargo of timber, and left there (after being bar-bound a week) on the Ist inst. Experienced light southerly winds throughout. The s.s. Storrnbird is advertised to leave here for Wanganui at 2 o’clock this afternoon. The s.s. Klngarooma arrived in port at 4.30 a.m. yesterday from kelson, after al2 hours' passage. She sailed for Melbourne, via the South, punctually at 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon. A light breeze of wind sprang up from the N.W. yesterday, and the following vessels, which have been wind-bound in port for some time, got away Transit and Jane Elkin, for Peloms Sound ; Jluby, for Kaikoura ; and Isabella Pratt, for Oamaru.
The weather having shown decided improvement during the past few days, the ketch Unity made another start for the East Coast yesterday, and it is hoped that she will be able to land and take on board her cargo there, as the weather during the present month on that coast is very unsettled, and boisterous in the extreme.
The s.s. Kennedy made a smart trip from Nelson to this port of 11 hours. She arrived here yesterday morning l . The Kennedy's departure for Nelson and West Coast ports has been postponed till this evening at C o’clock.
The barque Andrew Held left yesterday forenoon for Napier. She was passed by the s.s. Ilangatira yesterday afternoon, fifteen miles S. E. of Taourakiri Bead.
The 9.8. Rangatira arrived from Napier at G o’clock yesterday evening. Sim left there at 2.110 p.m. on Thursday, and experienced light variable winds with fine weather throughout the passage. She will leave for Napier and Poverty Ray on Monday next. The Union Co.’s s.s. Taupo, Captain Carey, did not arrive in port from the south till after 0 o’clock yesterday evening, consequent ujjon being delayed at Lyttelton till yesterday morning. Mr. Barbour (purser), to whom we are indebted for files. Ac., reports leaving Port Chalmers at 2 p.m. on the Gth ; got into Lyttelton at 0 a.m. the next day; sailed at 3 a.m. yesterday, and got alongside the wharf at 0.45 p.m. Experienced fine weather throughout. The Taupo will sail for the North at noon to-day. The schooner Minnehaha, with a cargo of 77,C00ft. sawn kauri timber on board, anchored in port at noon yesterday. She is on a voyage from Kaipara to I)unedin, and has put into this port for provisions, her stockjhaving run very low. The Minnehaha came from Fiji to Kaipara to load for Dunedin, but when she came down the river after loading,, the bar was found to be in a very low and bad condition consequent upon the prevalence of westerly gales. She was therefore kept a prisoner at the Heads for fourteen days, and was during that time unable to obtain any fresh provisions, which accounts for them running short. Ifer trip from Kaipara to this port has occupied eight days, the schooner having to work down the coast against light southerly winds. The Minnehaha will probably resume her voyage South this morning. It wc understand. Captain Smith’s Intention to call into Lyttelton for orders. . , . . The p.s. Luna, Captain Bascaml arrived in port from Creymouth at 10.30 a.m. yesterday. She left thereat 0 p.m. on "Wednesday last, and experienced fine weather throughout. The Luna brought 210 tons coal for this port, also fiOOlox. lOdwts. 18grs. gold for Lyttelton, whither she will go on ‘Wednesday next, where a lucrative freight of grain has been secured for the West Coast. On her return she will come in here.
