The s.s. Hinemoa left the wharf for Lyttelton shortly after 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. The barque Glencoe was berthed at the wharf yesterday. The s.s. Easby left at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon for Newcastle and Sydney. She had a large number of passengers. The barque Andrew Reid went down to the outer anchorage yesterday afternoon to await a breeze to -sail for Napier. ..,,., The s.s. Labybird, from the South, will arrive here this forenoon. She will sail North at noon tomorrow. The schooner Dunedin has left the port for Oamaru with a general cargo. The s.s. Wellington, from the Northern ports, is expected here this morning. She will sail for the South calling at Akaroa, at 3 o'clock this afternoon. The ship Ben Ledi is now turning out her London cargo in excellent condition. It is anticipated she will finish discharging this week. Two vessels are now due here from London, viz., the ship Wennington, which is 101 days out, and the barque Queen of the West, which is 98 days out. The s.s. Gazelle, which left on the 20th of January to search for the wreck of the General Grant, to try and procure the gold which is said to have gone down with her, returned to the Bluff on the 9th ult., after a rough passage of five days from the Auckland Islands. The following is her report:—" From every reason we believe that all doubts with regard to the position of the General Grant are at last solved. She has gone into a cave within the neighborhood of Cape iiristow. The figurehead has been found, and we were prepared to say that the long-lost treasure remains to he taken by dint of waitini for easterly weather, which on this occation it was not the Gazelle's luck to have. The scene of the wreck was not found until three weeks ago, and only two opportunities have offered to visit the spot, both of which were made use of. On the last occasion the boat was put out, and a breeze suddenly springing up the boat was smashed to pieces, and the Gazelle scudded -awav before the gale for two days, and then got into a harbor, name unknown. The «oals and provisions being almost down, it was deemed prudent to leave for the liluff, Captain Stevens and a man being left at the place. Should the owners of the Gazelle decide to send another vessel. Captain Giles feels sanguine of success. The Gazelle is now waiting orders from head-quarters at Lyttelton. The schooner Awarau was at the Auckland Islands when the Gazelle left. She had been visiting the Macquarries and islands to the south, and had met with fair success. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson, who had been on the island over twelve months, returned by the Gazelle."
