(per s.s. easey. ) Melbourne, May 10. Lewis’ Globe Hotel, Corowa, has been partly destroyed, by fire. The building and stool: are each insured for .£IOOO in the Liverpool, London, and Globe offices.—Another season of English opera is announced.—The Travaneore which brings the next Suez mail, is a very fast boat. —Over inches rain have fallen during the past four weeks.—A number of-clergy have presented an address to the Lean of-Melbourne upon his vacating office as Vicar-General.' May 11. About £9OOO has been promised to the Cathredral fund.—Private London telegrams state that the principal decline in wool is on crossbred. Scoured declined 2d.; greasy Id. —The agricultural statistics show the total area of wheat under crop to be d 01,417 acres; oats, 115,200 acres ; showing an increase in wheat of 80,016 acres, and in a decrease in oats of 8891 acres. Of field wheat, they show 300,800 bushels - increase ; of oats, 125,570 bushels decrease ; barley, 170,312 bushels decrease; maize, 11,263 bushels decrease. The total wheat yield is estimated at 5,279,730 bushels, being an auerage of thirteen bushels to the acre.—Flour and wheat have improved. Wheat sales have been made at 7s. 6d. Large parcels are under order. Brisbane, May 10. The Executive Council has decided that Tommy and George (South Sea Islanders) shall be executed at Maryborough for criminal assault.—The Hon. J, Young and Mr. J. Brown, the Canadian Commissioners, have arrived here. They meet the Chamber of Commerce on Monday, and pay a visit to the Darling Downs.—The ship Martaban cleared for London, with 2000 bales of wool. , May 11. Mr. Garrick lias been returned for Bast Moreton. —The Canadian Commissioners are visiting Ipswich with the Governor. From thence they will pay a flying visit to the Downs.—The accounts of sickness among the navvies on the Western Railway extension are most deplorable. _ Deaths from fever, misery, and destitution are everywhere occurring.—A quantity of salvage has arrived from the wrecked, steamer Singapore. The company is now negotiating with a firm in Sydney to raise the vessel , if practicable. Adelaide, May 10. teral fell on a chisel, which entered his abdomen, and he died a few minutes, afterwards.— The Government have telegraphed to the War Office for the assistance of an officer of the Royal Engineers or Artillery to command the forces here.—7s. lid. has been offered and refused for wheat. Tasmania, May 10. The debate on the budget commenced last night, when the Government measures were severely criticised. Mr. Giblin, the leader of the Opposition, moved an amendment to the effect that in order to obtain the concurrence of both branches of the legislature in regard to public works and taxing measures, it is absolutely necessary that his Excellency the Governor should call other advisers to his councils. Mr. Gibblin quoted figures to show that the Treasurer’s statement abounded with inaccuracies, that the revenue was under-estimated, that the statement of liabilities was exaggerated, and that no additional taxation was required. Other speakers followed to the same effect, and after a warm discussion the debate wasadjourned.—The want of confidence debate lasted until an early hour this morning, when it resulted in the defeat of the Reiby Ministry by sixteen to thirteen votes. The House immediately adjourned till Tuesday next, in order to allow time for the Ministers to consider their position.
