The Annual Meeting of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society will take place at Mr. Travers’ office, Featherston-street, on THURSDAY, the 17th MAY, at 8 o’clock in the evening. WHEREAS the City Council propose expending a sum of Fifty Thousand Pounds, more or less, upon the drainage and sewerage of the city, based upon a report submitted to the Council by Daniel Climie, Esq., C.E., dated January, 1877, and adopted by the Council on the 12th day of this month of April, subject to ratification by the Burgesses of the city ; and whereas the rateable property of the city will be pledged as security for the above loan : the Council have resolved that a vote of the Burgesses shall be taken for or against the proposal. Therefore, in terms of such resolution, and in accordance with the requirements, in so far as these are applicable, of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1876, 1 hereby call a Public Meeting of the Burgesses of the city, to he held at the Odd Fellows’ Hall, on TUESDAY, the 15th day of MAY next, at 8 o’clock, p.m., for the consideration of the proposal as stated above, of all which notice is hereby given.
