About 7000 bales were offered, Port Phillip preponderating, The attendance was large, and bidding commenced with great spirit ; but prices, compared with last series, show a decline of 10 per cent. May 9. The Turks have commenced bombarding Kalafat. The Roumanian batteries are replying. It is reported that Germany is increasing the number of her troops in Alsace and Lorraine, The Travancore, with Suez mails, left Gallo on the 6th. The Bangalore arrived at Galle on the Bth. Sydney, May 11. The tide has fallen suddenly over 2ft, and then returned to the original level. It also fell 20iu. in five minutes at Newcastle. Commercial,—Little alteration. Holders of breadstuffs are very firm. The trade demand is small. Best flour, £l9 to £2O per ton. Wheat, Bs. per bushel. No business. Sailed.—The Zealandia.
