AUCKLAND, Saturday, A telegram from Gisborne to the New Zealand Insurance Company states that the captain lias given notice of the abandonment of the steamer Go-Ahead. The insurance company will not accept it. Instructions have been sent to the captain to do his best possible for all parties. The steamer has shifted from where she first struck, and drifted towards the bar, whore the surf at high water breaks over her. LYTTFLTON, Saturday Arrived ; Lloyds’ Herald, from Catlin’s River. Barque Mangerton, from Mauritius. She left there on March 13, and made this port this morning. Sickness broke out on the voyage, and three deaths occurred. The vessel has been placed in quarantine. Sailed: Arawata. for Port Chalmers, at 3.30 p.m. May Queen, ship, for London, with a cargo of wool, wheat, and tallow, rained at £45,300. Sunday. Arrived ; Maori, from Port Chalmers. PORT CHALMERS, Saturday. Sailed ; At 4.30, ship Wellington in tow of tug Koputai, for Lyttelton, where she will load for London. Sunday. Arrived ; Schooner Rose Anna Rose. The mate reports slipping her anchor, and standing out from Timaru at 11 a ra. on Monday; had to stand to southward and eastward, and at noon next day was in lat. 44*48 S., long. 172'13 E. She then beat down the coast against a fierce southerly gale and heavy sea, and split all sails. She made the Heads this afternoon, and was towed up at 4.50 p.m. BLUFF, Saturday. The N. 2.5. Co.’s ship Waitara sailed at daylight this morning for London. Her cargo includes 4519 bales wool, and is valued at £OO.OOO. The topsail schooner which arrived here on Friday evening is stated to be the Julius Vogel on a voyage from Picton to Lyttelton. Sunday. The Ringarooma left Sandridge pier on the 30th ult. at 4 p.m, cleared the Heads at 7.30 p.m, and passed Swan Island on the Ist inst at 7.15 p.m. Experienced strong E.S.E. winds and heavy sea until arrival at Bluff at 11 o’clock last night, after a rapid passage of 4 days C hours, against strong adverse winds and sea. She brings 289 tons cargo, and 0 saloon and 30 steerage passengers for all ports. Sailed: Ringarooma, at 1 p.m., for Dunedin. Passengers—Saloon : F r Lyttelton—Messrs. Etherstone and Wylie, 3 steerage, and 80 tons cargo For Wellington—Mr. Strachan, 11 steerage, and 75 tons cargo. For Hokitika —Messrs. Perkins, Learmonth, and Kae. For Nelson—Messrs. Phillips and Patten, B steerage, and 11 tons cargo. The following steamers sailed on Saturday evening between 5 o’clock and midnight—Kiwi, for East coast; Tul and Napier, for Foxton ; Stormbird, for Wanganui; Lyttelton, for Blenheim; Murray, for West Coast ports; and Luna, for Westport and Grcymouth. The barque Malay arrived in port from Lyttelton at noon on Saturday, after a 20 hours' run. She was berthed at the wharf in the afternoon.
The p.s. Manawatu, Captain Harvey, arrived in fiort from Wanganui at 5.30 p.m. on Saturday. She eft there at 2 o’clock that morning, crossed the bar at 2.30, and experienced strong southerly wind throughout, with heavy sea in the Strait The Manawatu will sa l for Wanganui again at noon to-day. The schooner Merlin resumed her voyage to Waltara on Saturday forenoon, but on getting to the Heads the sea was running too high to beat out. She consequently returned to port and anchored at 4 p.m. Tne Union Company’s steamer Rotorua, Captain Macfarlane. arrived in port at 10 a.m on Saturday from t!ie South. She left Port Chalmers at 4 p.rn. on the 3rd inst., reached Lyttelton atß.3on.rn on tho4th sailed again at 7 p m., and arrived in port as above Experienced light wind throughout. The Rotorua had a large cargo of grain for Sydney shipped at Lyttelton, also a quantity of general cargo from Wellington and Dunedin for Napier and Auckland. She left here at 2.30 p.m. on Saturday. , , The Union Company's s.s, Tlawea arrived in port from the North at 12.45 p.m. yesterday. On coming alongside the wharf the stern lino unfortunately fouled the propeller, and about 20 fathoms of it, including the heaving line, was wound round the shaft before the machinery was stopped. However, by slowly working the engines the opposite way to which they were travelling when the accident happened, and by hauling on the rope with the steam winch It was soon unwound again, but the heaving lino was not. We thank the purser, Mr. Dougherty, for the following report The Hawea left the Manukau at 1 p.m. on the 3rd inst.; arrived at Taranaki at 7.30 a.m. on the 4th; left again at 10.30 a.m, and arrived at Nelson at 2'clock next morning; sailed again at 1.25 p m. same day, and was In Picton at 9 o’clock that night; got away at 7.45 am. yesterday, and arrived hero as above. Hadstrong S.E. winds throughout the passage. The Hawea will sail for Lyttelton and Port Chalmers this afternoon about 3 o’clock.

Captain Stewart reports passing tho s 'hoonoi Endeavor to the south of Kaikonra, from this port bound to Oamaru. She is now over a fortnight out. Tho Kelson Doily Times says that the schooner Bonnie Lass, which left Lyttelton on the 4 th. April for Hokitika, had not arrived there up to Saturday Ift.t. She was seen over three weeks ago by the I rosperity, but nothing further lias been heard of her. Some anxiety is felt for her safety in Nelson, where she was owned.
