Public Notices JJOKITIKA HARBOR BOARD. COMPETITIVE DESIGNS REQUIRED FOR RIVER AND HARBOR WORKS. Being anxious to obtain a good design for conserving the Hokitika River along present wharf, and directing it across the bar, so as to obtain the deepest channel practicable under the circumstances, the Board will pay the sum of £250 for the BEST DESIGN for these purposes, bearing in mind that the funds present at the disposal of the Beard will not' exceed £30,000. ' , A map on a scale of four chains to the inch,'. accompanied by a memorandum stating nature.; of river bed and banks, prevailing winds, currents, direction and position of channel fount!' to be most, permanent, and .most, readily worked by shipping, together with description and prices of the local materials which might possibly be utilised, will be furnished to intending competitors on application, and each competitor must show accurately on said map the position and extent of all the work which he, proposes, and must purnish also a cross section} of each sort of work, together with ah esti--mate of its probable cost per chain, and.tptal y cost ; and a full report upon the whole question, giving his reasons for the adoption of the course he. proposes, in preference to any other ' course. , The date at which the designs must be sent in-will be communicated to each competitor when plan is forwarded to him ; but it will not ; in any case be fixed sooner than 30th JUNE next.
