(REVTER'S SPECIAL 10 PRESS AGENCY.J London, April 14. The Earl of Derby in the House of Lords expressed regret that tho Circular of the Porte was against peace. The Marquis of Hartington on moving for the production of additional papers, asked how the Government reconciled the protocol with the integrity and independence of the Porte. Mr. Hardy, Secretary of State, refused the papers, and said that England’s last word was in favor of peace, and strongly objected against war being made with Turkey. England signed the protocol to afford Russia the chance to disarm. The motion of Lord Hartington was withdrawn. The demands of Montenegro have been finally rejected. Hostilities have recommenced. The Russians are advancing on Jasaey. The Russian reserves on furlough are ordered to rejoin. A declaration of war is believed to be imminent The reserve of the Roumanian permanent army has been called out. There was a war panic during the week on the Stock Exchange. Consuls fell one-half, and are now at 96. Russian fell 5, Turkish 1. Money is easy. Maximum discount is unchanged. Australasian securities are unaffected. The Camara loan of £65,000 was all subscribed for above par. The court martial ou Captaiu Stevens, of the Baracouta, resulted iu his dismissal from the service. The third immigrant ship, with 350 souls on board, is leaving New York for Sydney to-day. The Chancellor of the Exchequer’s Budget estimates the surplus at the eud of the year at £445,000. Estimated revenue of United Kingdom, £79,000,000; estimated expenditure,
£78,190,000. No increase or remission of taxation is proposed. At a fire at one of the hotels of St. Louis, fifty persons perished. Wool market depressed, owing to prospect of war and heavy arrivals. Wheat market excited ; prices advancing. New Zealand, 575. to 595.
