LAMBTON WARD ELECTION.
The election of a member to represent Lainbton Ward in the City Council took place yestesday, the hours of polling being from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. As in the case of the Te Aro Ward election, the proceedings were very quiet, and but for the fact being publicly known, nobody would have supposed that a contest of the kind was going on through the day. Shortly after the closing of the poll, the result of the voting was declared by the Returning Officer, Mr, Baker, to be as follows: Allan ... ... ••• ••• 898 Plimmer ... ••• 108
Majority far Allan ... 200 The Returning Officer then declared Mr. Allan to be duly elected a member of the Wellington City Council. A large number of voters had assembled to hear the result of the election, and when it was made known as above, some evidence of approval and satisfaction was given in the shape of repeated cheers. Mr. Allan thanked his friends and supporters for the honor they had done him by returning him to the seat, and hoped to merit their confidence. Mr. Plimmeb also in suitable terms thanked those who had voted for him.
