The Government steamer Hinemoa made the, downtrip from New Plymouth in 14J hours. She arrived here at 4.30 a, in. yesterday. The steamer Stormbird went round to the Patent Slip yesterday to be cleaned and painted, and also to be supplied with a new outer shaft bearing. She will sail for Wanganui at 1 o’clock on Monday. The s.s. Eangatira, Captain Evans, from Napier, arrived here yesterday at 1.30 p.m. She left there at noon on Thursday, and experienced light variable winds to Cape Pal User, thence till arrival a strong N.W. breeze. The Rangatira will proceed to Napier at noon on Tuesday. The s.s. Rotorua will sail for Sydney via Napier .and Auckland to-day. taking passengers who intend leaving the latterport by the s.s Zealandia. The p.s. Manawatu left for Wanganui at 2.30 p.m. yesterday. -She is expected back here on Sunday. The s.s. Arawata left Nelson at 3.15 p.m.yesterday, and arrived here at midnight. She will probably leave ./or Melbourne via the South to-day. The Suez and San Francisco mails will leave today by the Arawata and Rotorua respectively. .
