TE ARO ELECTION.
The polling for the election of a member to represent Te Aro Ward in the City Council took place yesterday. Very little interest was manifested in the election—that is, no excitement was manifested. The poll closed at six o’clock, and at half-past six the Returning Officer, Mr. Baker," gave out the number of votes in favor of each candidate as follows ; Dixon ... ... ... ... 327 Moody 220 Majority for Dixon, 107. The Returning Officer then declared Mr. Dixon to be duly elected a member of the Wellington City Council Mr. Dixon returned thanks, expressing his sense of the responsibility of the position to which he had been elected, and promising to do his best as a Councillor in the interest of Te Aro Ward and the city.
