A new colliery of the Newcastle Coal Mining Company was opened on March 2. The shaft is 300 feet deep, the coal of splendid quality, and the seam thirteen feet thick. An old man, who is said to be one hundred years of age, was lately brought before the Forbes Police Court for protection.
