BY TELEGRAPH. AUCKLAND, Wednesday. Arrived : German warship Augusta. She steams , fourteen knots, and is armed with ten Krupp guns. Sailed : Rotorua, for Sydney, with eighty passengers; Star of the South, for Napier, Wellington, and Lyttelton. A large number of passengers have booked per the City of New York, including Emmet and family, and Chinese giant. PORT CHALMERS, Wednesday. Arrived : Sapphire, war steamer, 1407 tons, Elibank H. Murray, commander, 14 guns, 350 horsepower. She left Auckland on the 4th February, and called at Chatham, Campbell, and Auckland Islands, and left the latter place on the Btb Inst. LYTTELTON, Wednesday. Sailed : Wave, brig, for Auckland; Clematis, hetcb, for Manukau ; Floral Star, for Adelaide; Sea Belle, for Melbourne: Ringarooma, for Wellington and Nelson, at 4.45 p.m. Passenger: Mrs. Clarkson. —Taupo, for Northern ports. Passengers—For Wellington : Mr. and Mrs. Scott-Siddons, Mr. and Mrs. Ravage, Miss Armstrong, Miss Caw, Mr. J, B. Steele, Mr. A. Stormbird arrived from Wanganui at 10 Am. yesterday, having left there at 9 o'clock the previous night. Crossed the bar at 9.30, and experienced calm weather throughout. The steamers Taupo and Ringarooma fr m the South will arrive in harbor this morning. The Taupo is advertised to sail North in the afternoon, and the JUngarooroa will go on to Nelson during the evening. The s.s. Kiwi left for the East Coast yesterday afternoon at 430 with a full cargo. She brought up in Cow Bay consequent on the strong southerly wind Mowing. The s.s, Kennedy, Captain Conway, left Wanganui at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, and arrived here at 8 o’clock yesterday morning. Experienced calm weather with smooth sea throughout. '( he Kennedy will proceed to Nelson, Westport, Greymouth, and Hokitika, today. . The Union Company’s s.s, Hawea, Captain Wheeler, arrived in port at 1L46 a.m. yesterday from the North. She left the Manukau at 6.15 p.m. on the 10th ; got into Taranaki next morning. Nelson on Monday, and sailed at 6.80 p.m. on Tuesday ; arrived at Plcton at 6 a.m.; sailed at 7.30 a.m. yesterday, and arrived here as above. . Experienced fine weather throughout. The Hawea proceeded South at 4.30 p.m. _ The Stormbird left for Wanganui at 5.15 p.m. yes- . terday, but on proceeding out towards the Heads a. heavy sea was running in and a hard S.E. wind blowing. Captain Dolle therefore deemed it prudent to return to the harbor. On coming up the bay the - yacht Minnehaha was picked iip off Point Jemingham, with two men in her, half fall of water, and the rudder carried away. She was taken in tow and brought up to the wharf. The Stormbird will return to Wanganui to-day. , -With just enough wind to make them move, the Hilpg Avalanche and Ocean Mail got under way yes- ■ terday afternoon, the former at half-past 3 o'clock, ; ahd the latter half an hour afterwards, the Avalanche just rounding (Inlawed Point when the Ocean Mail canted. The wind was from the N.W.. but gradually working round to the westward, and falling lighter every minute, and when the Ocean Mail had shut out Hie town, it shifted into the S.W. As soon as the Avalanche had got as far as Worser Bay she came to an anchorage, but the wind beaded the < 'cean Mail before she could get that far, and she was obliged to return to port, anchoring off Kaiwarra at 5 p.m., at “Which hour the wind was blowing fresh from,the S.E., which would prevent the ships from getting out.
