Tuesday, March 13. (Before J. C. Crawford, Esq,, R.M.) SUSPICION OP LUNACY. John Buckley, who had been remanded on a previous occasion on suspicion of lunacy, did not put in an appearance. Mr. Read, governor of the gaol, informed the Court that Buckley had not yet sufficiently recovered to he removed from the gaol, being still very violent. He had been visited by Dr. Bradford, who was of opinion that he might be removed in a week’s time. The case was accordingly adjourned for another week. assaulting the police. William Moran was charged with having been drunk and disorderly and assaulting the police on Sunday morning last. He pleaded guilty. Constable Buchanan deposed that he arrested the prisoner, who had interfered with him whilst he was attempting to take a man named Duigan into custody. ■ Prisoner gave him a great deal of trouble, being very violent. Constable Waglan took charge of prisoner whilst he (Buchanan) went to arrest another man who had resisted his arrest; prisoner was very violent, and was getting the best of Waglan, when be was struck on the head. In answer to his Worship prisoner said he had nothing to offer in extenuation. He could only say he was very sorry for what ho had done. His Worship: Yon seem to have been tolerably punished already, I must say that constables ought to be more careful not to strike men in this way, so as to oblige them to be sent to the hospital. As I said before — Yen hare been tolerablyjpunished already, and I shall only fine you 20s. and cost, or 48 hours imprisonment, CIVIL CASES. There were five cases set down for hearing on the civil sheet, hut none of them were heard, one being adjourned and the remainder settled out of Court.
