The import trade has been fairly brisk during the past week, large quantities of goods having been landed from the English ships now discharging; lr.it we note little, if any, variation in quotations. Lottied ale and stouts aie moving off, and stocks though still heavy are somewhat reduced, quotations remain at 10s dd to lis Gd per doz, according to condition. Adelaide flour, owing to the low stocks of, Canterbury and Oamaru sorts, is firm at £l9 per ton, with indications of further advance. Kerosene is slightly lower in consequence of the arrival of the shipment per William Cobb, and sales have been made at 3s; holders are quoting 3s 3d for small trade lots. Sugars remain firm at £4S to £49 for No. 2 W.; £47 to £47 10s for 1.C., with signs of a further rise looming in the distance. Spirits remain unaltered. In colonial produce, keg butter is in improved demand ; sales at 9jd to lOd for prime cure. Cheese dull at 7d to 7£d per lb for a good sample of Canterbury make. Hams and bacon, fair business doing at 9d to lid for cases assorted. BY TELEGRAPH. CHRISTCHURCH, Friday, The wheat market is declining. Millers and merchants are disinclined to operate except at heavy reductions on late rates. 4s 6d is the price offered for good samples. Statistics just published show nearly 1,000,000 bushels wheat in excess of any previous year. Oats, 2s to 2s 3s; barley, 3s 6d to 3s 9d; flour, £ls to £l6; cheese, 7d to 7Ad; butter, Is 3d. DUNEDIN, Friday. Mr. Bradshaw reports : Bank of New Zealand, £l9 10s; Colonial, £ll6s; New Zealand Insurance, £4los; National, £1 10s ; South British, £4 10s. _ Grain market: Wheat market continues in rather unsettled state, but some large contracts have been made for forward delivery. Prime samples quoted 5s Gd to 5s 7d; medium, 5s to 5s 4d. Oats in good enquiry at, for milling, 2s Gd to 2s 8d; seed, 2s 4s to 2s sd. Barley, none of new crop yet forward. AUCKLAND, Friday. Mr. Buckland quotes beef Is higher per lOOlbs; sheep at lower rates. Mr. Binney reports: Adelaide flour, £18; Southern, £l7. Sharps, £8 10s ; bran, £6 : potatoes, £4 ; oats, 2s lOd ; maize, 4s 9d ; jams, 8s ; bacon, 8d to lOd; cheese, 7d.
