FREEHOLD ESTATE. NEW ZEALAND. Messrs, miles, hassall, and CO. have been instructed by Messrs. Rhodes and Wilkin to offer for sale in February, immediately after shearing— THE ST. LEONARDS ESTATE, in the Amuri ; District, Province of Nelson, adjoining the Province of Canterbury, containing 100,000 acres freehold, in one compact block, nearly square ; together with about ■ 80,000 sheep 40 head cattle 70 horses The property will be sold as a whole, or cut up into blocks of various sizes, the largest about 40,000 acres, with proportion of stock to each. About 40,000 acres are fit for agriculture, the remainder being hills and beautiful downs, not surpassed in New Zealand for pastoral purposes, and well watered ; the whole forming one of the grandest estates south of the Line. The improvements include manager’s house of 10 rooms, Men’s house, with sleeping accommodation for 60 men, Woolshed for 48 shearers, Dip to pass through 15,000 sheep per day, Boiling-down plant, Stables, stores, blacksmiths’ and carpenters’ shops, Dray, timber, aqd other sheds, ~ ; Large garden, well stocked with fruit trees in full bearing, Upwards of, 100. acres of thriving plantations, containing a great variety of trees. The property is subdivided by substantial wire fences, with iron standards, into numerous divisions of various sizes. All fences, buildings, and other improvements are in first-class order, and only three shepherdsare required, excepting when the sheep are being mustered. The sheep are chiefly merinos, which have been carefully bred and culled for the last fourteen years. The situation of this estate is peculiarly favorable, being only about thirty miles distant from the present temporary terminus of the main trunk railway through the island, and the continuation of the line must either pass through or very close to the property. The climate ef the Nelson Province is considered the finest in the Australasian colonies, and the Amuri District is famed for producing the choicest wool in New Zealand.
