THE INSPECTOR OF SCHOOLS.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. ■ Sfiq—Let me thank you publicly for publishing so full a report of the meeting of the Education Board held yesterday. Publicity is the protection of the weak from the powerful and unjust, or it gives to public action the support of the national will by eliciting -a public opinion in its favor. The impression produced on my mind on reading the letters of the various schoolmasters and the replies thereto was that the Inspector of Schools had substantially made good his report. The action of the Board has been judicial and careful. The care that it has shown will cause teachers to appeal to it with more confidence. The Board has two difficult things to do—to respect the opinion of its professional advisor and to guard the individual teacher, who singly is weak.— l am, (fee., A Teacher.
