WATERWORKS BY-LAWS. The following By-laws have, been passed by special order at a Special Meeting of the City Council, and will come into operation seven days hence:— 1. There shall be an ordinary, and there may be an extraordinary, supply of water. (a.) An ordinary supply of water shall be for domestic purposes only, and shall mean a supply strictly for such purposes, the Council reserving the right . to determine in every case what shall be considered an ordinary supply in the circumstances of each particular
(b.) An extraordinary supply of water shall be charged for extra, and at such price as may be arranged. 2. All water henceforth supplied to machinery of any kind shall be supplied only after the applicants have provided themselves with meters to gauge the supply, when' : the- water will be charged at the rate of ; Is. pet' 1000 gallons, payable monthly. 'Meters'' shall" be approved of by the Engineer, and fifed in such places as he may direct. Any person using water for machine purposes hereafter without being provided with a meter shall, upon conviction, be liable in a penalty not uxceeding £2 for the first offence, 3. Any person wilfully or negligently causing or permitting any waste or improper use o£ water, by leaving it to overflow, so as to run into the street or other open place, shall be guilty of an offence, and liable, upon conviction, to pay a penalty not exceeding £2 for committing the same. New applications for water supply must be accompanied by a payment of a sum equal to the rate for the broken period of the current half-year, or year, as the case may be. By order. WM.
