The City Council of Dunedin are prepared to receiveDESIGNS for NEW MUNICIPAL BUILDINGS, proposed to be erected on the site fronting the Octagon and Moray-place respectively. The designs to be delivered addressed to the lowu Clerk, at the City Council Chambers, Dunedin, by NOON of the Ist DAY of JUNE, 1877. The premiums offered are :—For the first approved design, £200; for the second, £IOO- - for the third, £SO. Ihe first and second premiated designs to become the property of the Council, The Council does not bind itself to employ the successful competitor to carry out the works. Plans of the sites of the proposed Town Hall, etc., with printed pamphlets furnishing particulars of the accommodation to be provided, may be inspected at the offices of the Town Clerks, respectively, at Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington, Auckland, and Melbourne. It is hereby publicly notified that at a meeting of the Hutt County Council, held at the Provincial Buildings, Wellington, on TUESDAY, the 20th day of FEBRUARY, 1877, it was resolved, under the provisions of the 103rd clause of the Public Works Act, 1876, that the scale of tolls to be collected at the Kaiwarra and Hutt Bridge Tollgates should be that mentioned in the schedule attached to this notice, upon each particular vehicle or animal specified in the said schedule, on and after FRIDAY, the 23rd day of MARCH NEXT ensuing. By order. WM. JONES, Clerk to the Council. The paragraph in the second schedule to the Otago and Wellington Tolls Act, 1876, charging five-inch tiers half tolls, is disallowed. This schedule shall be read as if the words “ mare, gelding, ass, mule, bull, cow, or calf ” were inserted after the word “horse” throughout. Provided that not more than | one toll shall, fee taken on any vehicle or horse passing or returning on the same day. t JJUTT COUNTY COUNCIL. NOTICE is hereby given that at a special meeting of the Hutt County Council, held on the TWENTIETH DAY of FEBRUARY, INSTANT, the following resolution was passed :—“ Whereas by section eighty-eight of the Public Works Act, 1876, it is (amongst other things) enacted that the County Council of any County established under the provisions of the Counties Act, 1876, may, by an order gazetted and publicly notified from time to time, declare any District Road within the County to he a County Road; and whereas it is expedient that all the District Roads within the Hutt County should be declared to be County Roads; Now it is hereby resolved that an order shall be made In pursuance of the said section eighty-eight of The Public Works Act, 1876, declaring all the District Roads within the Hutt County to be County Roads, and that upon the due confirmation of this resolution, as provided by section eighty of The Counties Act, 1876, an order for that purpose be sealed with the seal of the Council, and be gazetted and publicly notified, as provided by the Public Works Act, 1876.” And notice is hereby further given that a meeting of the Council will be held at the County Council Office, Provincial Buildings, Wellington, on FRIDAY, the TWENTYTHIRD DAY of MARCH NEXT, at Two o’clock in the Afternoon, to consider the expediency of confirming such resolution.
