LATE FIRE ON THE HIMALAYA.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. '■ Sir,—AUow me to say, in answer to a paragraph which appeared in a paper this evening in reference to the gratuity given to the Dayspring for services rendered to my ship on the occasion of the late lire, that it was in proportion to that given to other vessels. Seven or eight hands cannot reasonably expect so much as twenty or thirty. However, many thanks for the hint given. I shall know how to act another time. Chas. J. S. Grant, Master Himalaya. Wellington, February 21.
