Speaking of the New Zealand Shipping Company’s chartered vessel Thurland Castle, which arrived at Auckland on the 9th Inst., the New Zealand Herald says She is an entirely new ship, being launched in September last, and is commanded by Captain Anderson, formerly chief officer of the ship Dallam Tower, well known In the South. She Is the first vessel built In an Irish shipbuilding yard that we have seen in Auckland, and, judging from her lines and everything about her, she is a credit to her builders, and ought to prove a profitable speculation to the company that own her, as it is evident that she'is a remarkably quick sailer. She has special facilities for, the storage of cargo, particular attention being paid to this more than passenger accommodation. Her register is 1243 tons, "with a certificate of the highest merit, being classed AA 100 at Lloyds. The bonders are Messrs. Harland, Wolff and Company, of Belfast, who have turned out several vessels of a high class for the corporation who own the Thurland Castle." The proprietary are the Lancaster Shipowners Company, Liverpool, who are well-known as possessing some of the finest merchant vessels that sail out of that port. The frequent charters they receive from the New Zealand Shipping Company is abundant evidence of this, and the Thnrland Castle Is no exception to (he rule.
