Mr. Macandrew wrote to'the Council of the Convention expressing his readiness' to undertake the mission; but Sir G. Grey'is not prepared to go, and on January 18 he, telegraphed to Mr Macandrew as follows : " To Mr. Macandrew.—Am still, regret ,to say, unwell, and cannot 'move, 'to r Auojuand' There is no hope of my being able to leave New Zealand for sdme> time.—Geokoe Gmy." '' • ,l - 1 " l Balclutha, Friday. t Correspondence between Mr. -Macandrew, Sfr George Grey, and the President of the Otago Convention is published in the Cmthi Leader to-day, showing that in t consequence of the illness of Sir George-Grey the inißsion to England must be postponed. The Leader suggests that the money collected to defray the expenses of the delegates should now be expended in trying the question of the legality of the Abolition Act in a court of law, and urges that this would be a popular mode of disposing of the funds.
