The schooner Amaranth, Captain Campbell, from Onehunga, arrived here yesterday, forenoon. The steamers Stormbird and Manawatu sailed for Wanganui at noon yesterday. The s.s. Eangatira was towed round to the Patent Slip yesterday by the Manawatu. The s.s. Kiwi will sail for Castlepoint and Napier to-day. The schooner Maggie Paterson sailed for Greymouth yesterday. She will sail,for Foxton to-day. : ■ The' schooner Anthons, 133 tons, C. Anthons, master. Is now loading at Melbourne for Wellington, She Is'the next one of. Turnbull’s regular line of Two mission schooners are expected here shortly. One is the Dayspring, from the New Hebrides via Dunedin and Lyttelton; and the other, the Southern Cross, from Auckland. She is manned by twenty-five boys from the Auckland Gaining ship, and is under the command of Captain Bongatd. The s s. Hinemoa proceeded on a trip round the Middle Island yesterday afternoon. She will go by Xvay.of the West Coast and call at Preservation Inlet, for which place she took a number of heavy baulks of ironwork, to be used in the construction of a new lighthouse there. Centre Island will also be visited to land a quantity of lighthouse material. The Hinemoa will return here by way of the East Coast, calling at the' several ports. Captain Fairchild anticipates being back here by the 15th inst. An advertisement elsewhere states that the tug Albatross is for sale by auction at Melbourne. The Albatross is a new boat, and would if brought to Wellington supply a want which has been long felt here. She la described as a vessel of 275 tons builder’s measurement, 191 tons.,register, and 31 tons.net register, built at Whiteinch in 1875, and classed 100 Al.
