(pee press agency.) Auckland, Thursday. A large number of natives related to the leading adherents of the Maori King have, migrated to the Geymond confiscated boundary, where they propose to settle. Shera, formerly partner in the large soft goods firm of McArthur, Shera, and Co., has applied to the Supreme Court for a mandamus to restrain the new firm from trading until the co-partnership accounts are determined. Strong affidavits are filed on both sides. Argument will be heard to-morrow. Alexandra, Thursday. Tawhiao has arrived at Kopua, Major Te Wheoro meets him there to-day regarding the Pirongia dispute. Dunedin, Thursday. The prizes for the Dunedin and Port Chalmers Regatta will amount to about £l5O. A novel feature in the programme is a Ships’ Life-boat Race. The recently appointed Committee of Management for the Dunedin Hospital visited that institution yesterday, and they found that none of the wards were provided with lavatories, baths, or closets; There were only one lavatory and one bath on' the premises, the latter being situated near the kitchen, beneath the flooring of one ward, and in a considerable portion of the building mud and offensive matter to a depth of two or three feet had accumulated. The offensive odours of closets penetrated a considerable distance. The committee have determined to take the necessary steps for at once effecting the requisite alterations. The case brought for the purpose of determining whether or not Reid and Fenwick have received the sole right to sell newspapers on the Dunedin railway platform, was called on in the Police Court this morning, but was adjourned in consequence of counsel retained being engaged in the Supreme Court. The dead body of a female, unknown, was found floating off the Ocean Beach to-day. Blenheim, Thursday. Woodgate was executed at 6 o’clock this morning. He was quite resigned. It is said that the executioner came from Nelson. The Hinemoa arrived early this morning with Armed Constabulary from Wellington. FIJI. Auckland, Thursday. The report of Kaicolo prisoners escaping from Suva has been confirmed. The men were engaged on the public works in charge of some Royal Engineers and the native guard.. They suddenly threw down their tools and absconded, without leave or license, to the number of about thirty. Four of them were shot by sentries, and some recaptured, but the greater number escaped to the mountains. A number were pursued, tracked, and shot down, but the main body have not yet been overtaken. The Hon. Auditor-General is appointed to be Colonial Secretary, and W. McGregor, M.D., to act as a Receiver-General. The sea wall and roadway round the island are progressing satisfactorily. The work is now carried more than half way round the Bay of Vagadace. The contract with the Fiji Government to employ the Star of the South between the various islands has expired, and is not likely to be revived. Business in Levuka is very dull. A large number of men, including Chinamen, have left for Sydney.
