The Wellington City Council are desirous of receiving designs for the Erection of a Town Hall and Offices. First premium, £2OO, with the option to the Council to pay the premium and take the plans ; or to employ the architect making the design, at 6 per cent, commission on cost, to supervise the building. The City Council, acting as the Local Board of Health for the City of Wellington, beg to direct the attention of the public to the following provisions of the Public" Health" Act, 1876. , ■ Section 28.—When a householder knows that a person within the-house occupied by him is taken sick of small-pox, cholera, or any other highly infectious disease dangerous to the people, he shall immediately give notice thereof to the Local Board of the district in which he dwells. Penalty, £lO., Section 31.-—Any person who while suffering from any dangerous infectious disease wilfully exposes himself, without proper precautions against spreading the said disorder, in any street, public place, shop,i car, or public conveyance, or enters any public conveyance without previously notifying to the owner, conductor, or driver thereof that he is so suffering, shall be liable to a penalty not exceed-; ing £5. Section 33.—Any person who knowingly lets for hire any house, room, or part’of a house in which any person has been suffering from any dangerous infectious disorder, without having such house, room, or part of a house, and all articles therein liable to retain infection, disinfected to the satisfaction of a legally qualified medical practitioner, as certified by a certificate signed by him, shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding £2O. Section 34.—Any person letting for hire, or showing for the purpose of letting for hire, any house or part of a house, who, on being questioned by* any person negotiating for the hire for such house or part of house, as to the fact of their being, or within six weeks previously having been therein any person suffering from any dangerous infectious disease, knowingly makes a false answer to such question, shall be liable, at the discretion of the Court, to a penalty not exceeding (£2O) twenty pounds, or to imprisonment, with or without hard labor, for a period not exceeding one month. The above notification is made by the Local Board of Health for public information, and in the hope that a recognition of the importance of the provisions referred to will, cause them to be complied with as far as practicable. ; By order. .
