CRICKET.
TO THE EDITOR OP THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sir,—l think had the match I proposed last week taken place on the Basin Eeserve on Saturday, a very close contest would have been the result, instead of which a one-sided game was witnessed. Now, as I take a great interest in the Wellington cricketers, X trust it is not asking too much for the insertion of this letter, pointing, out that the teams below should play next Saturday week, and if possible make it a whole day’s match in order to have it played out, and that we may have little difficulty in picking out sixteen or seventeen therefrom for the struggle against the Englishmen, combined with five' or six from the country. You will observe I have left two vacancies (for each team) to be filled up on the ground, in case of any neglect or oversight on my part. 1. Belcher (Star) 12. Lockett 2. Bell .13. Lowe S. Bryce 14.
