The p.s. Charles Edward left for Nelson and West Coast ports at 6.43 p.m. The Union Company’s s.s. Taupo, Captain Carey, from Southern ports, arrived here yesterday at 10 a.m. She left Port Chalmers on the Bth, and reached Lyttelton next morning; sailed at 4.30 p.m. same day, and arrived here as above. Had fresh head wind from Lyttelton. The Taupo left the wharf for Northern ports at midnight. The schooner Marmlon came off the Patent Slip yesterday afternoon, and sailed round to the wharf. The s.s. Tui sailed for Foxton at 1.30 p.m. yesterday, and the s.s. Napier for the same port at 2 p.m. The ship Avalanche was towed round from Evans Bay yesterday afternoon by the p.s. diaries Edward. She was berthed at the wharf at 7 o’clock, alongside the ship St. Leonards, The cutter Dido sailed for Blenheim at noon yes-: terday, and the schooner Ruby got away for Te Kopi at 8.30 a.m.; The barque Suffolk cleared out. at the Customs yesterday for Hokianga, and will, weather permitting, sail to-day. •At Hokianga she will load with timber for Melbourne. The cutter Hero was disposed of for £360 to Webb Bros., of Pelorus Sound. Our remarks on the ketch Otaki in yesterday’s Issue have led the Custom authorities to inform the master of that vessel that he must not proceed again to sea In her without a boat. The s.s. Tararua arrived at Sydney yesterday. The s.s. Rotorua sailed from Port Chalmers yesterday for Lyttelton. She will arrive here to-morrow morning. . , The p.s. Charles Edward arrived here at 2 a.m. yesterday, from Nelson, with a cargo of wool and fruit. On reference to our telegrams from Dunedin it will be seen that the firms of Shaw, Savlll, and Co. and Patrick Henderson and Co., or the Albion Shipping Co., have amalgamated. The ship Howrah only wants about 500 or COO bales more wool to make her a full ship. She will take about 5000 bales with her, besides a quantity of meats,. tallow, and bones. *lt is expected she will get away at her advertised date, the 20th inst. The ship St. Leonards .will be a-full ship either on Friday or Saturday next. : Owing to the delay experienced by the ship Hurunui in leaving England for this port, she will be unable to take her place on the berth here to load for London, consequently the ship Ocean Mail, which was only chartered by the New Zealand Shipping Company for the voyage out, has had to be rechartered, and laid on to load for London in her stead. The s.s. Kiwi sailed for the East Coast yesterday evening at 6 o’clock. She was blocked with cargo. The p.s, Manawatu is expected to arrive here today from Wanganui. She will return to the same port in the afternoon. The s.s. Stormbird, Captain Doile. from Wanganui, arrived in harbor at 6,16 p.m. yesterday. She will return to Wanganui to-day. ■ A fore-and-aft schooner came to an anchorage to the windward of the wharf last night at 10 o’clock. We were unable to ascertain her name, but Judging from where she brought up we imagine her captain is not well acquainted with this port. i;t
