A COMPLAINT.
TO THE EDITOR OP THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. SIR, —Permit me, through your columns, to direct the attention of our representatives in the City Council to the practice existing of emptying on the reclaimed laud pestilent tilth from backyards and other unsavoury places. By whose and by what authority is the nuisance permitted ? Several loads of this abomination, which were shot out on the reclaimed laud yesterday, are still uncovered, and the southerly breeze has wafted the dust containing germs of disease half over Thorndou. It is simply menstrous that this state of things is permitted. Surely the contractor must have been limited at the time of making the contract to the place set apart as a depository oi rubbish. I write as I feel, very strongly on this subject. There is a deadly disease in our midst, and our efforts in our own homes for prevention of its spread are negatived by the carelessness of the Council and its officers. — I am, &c., Thorndok.
