The s.s. Stormbird, Captain Doile, left'Wanganui on the 10th, and arrived here at 2.30 a.m. yesterday. Experienced strong B.E. wind, with heavy sea, throughout. The Stormbird sailed for Wanganui at 7.15 p.m. yesterday. The barque Edwin Bassett sailed for Newcastle yesterday. The schooners Kainma. The schooner T. B, Taylor resumed her voyage yesterday for Lyttelton. The s.s. Tui, which left here for Kaikoura on Monday afternoon, did not reach there till Wednesday, owing to having experienced a strong S.E. gale across the Strait, which compelled her to put under Cape Campbell for shelter. The schooner Aurora sailed for the East Coast yesterday afternoon. The old barque Camille is announced by Mr. E. J. Duncan to be sold by public auction to-day. The as. Wellington, from the South, will arrive here to-day. She will sail North on Friday morning. The p.s, Manawatu arrived here yesterday at 1 p.m. from Wanganui. She left there at 1.30 pm. on the 19th, and crossed the bar at midnight. Experienced light southerly wind to Kapiti, with heavy head sea: thence till arrival here fresh N.W. breeze. The Australasian Steam Navigation Company have added to their already largo fleet of steamers by the purchase of the steamer Ly-ee-Moon. She is a fine vessel of 650 tons, and has been for some time running between Sydney and the northern ports and Hongkong. During the Interruption of the cable she was employed as transit steamer for the conveyance of telegraphic m'essages to and ftom Banjoewangic, She is intended for the intercolonial trade, H.M.S. Alacrity, ftom the Fijian group, where she has been cruising since 21st March, returned to Sydney on the Hth Inst, to refit, and will remain during the hnrricane months. H.M.S. Nymph may be expected daily in Sydney, returning from a cruise among the islands. H.M.S. Wolverine, appointed to the Australian station, was at Madeiraon thelfc'th September. She would touch at, the Cape of Good Hope, the Croaets, and Perth.
