Eangatira, from Napier, came Into port yesterday at 7 a.m. She left there at 4.30 p.m,. on. the 14th inst. and had a light N.W. wind to Bare Island, where it veered round to the south and blew a hard gale accompanied with a heavy sea. The steamer, was kept at it for some time, bat the wind and sea increasing she had to be put about and run to Castle-' point for shelter, where she arrived at 5.80 p.ra. on Saturday. Sheleft again at 3,30 p.m. on Sunday, and. arrived hero as above. The Kangatira brought a full cargo of produce. She will sail for Napier and Poverty Bay to-day at 4 p.m, r ' ' The Union Company’s s.s Hawea. Captain Wheeler,/ from the South, arrived here yesterday at 7 L a.m.; She left Port Chalmers at 5 p.m. on the 14th, and arrived at Lyttelton at noon on the 15th. Next day was laid on an excursion trip to .Akaroa, where’a regatta was held,, and conveyed there SOO.pepple... Sailed from Lyttelton for this port at 2.16 p.m. bn the 17th, and arrived as above. Had variable weather, with moderate winds up the coast. The Hawea discharged a largo quantity of cargo yesterday, and sailed for Northern ports at 3.16 p.m. The signal of a topsail schooner at anchor in Worser Bay was shown yesterday at Mount 'Victoria. She Is supposed to ha a vessel put in through stress of weather. ■ .i

The s.s. Stella, from the Brothers, arrived In port, yesterday afternoon. She landed all her cargo there, but the work of so doing was greatly retarded by strong southerly wind, The s.s, Napier,’ for Foxton, and the Tui, for Lyttelton and Kalkoura, sailed yesterday afternoon.

Owing to the wind going round to the south yesterday, ’the ship ' Waikato was unable to sail for Kalkoura and Arthur Wakefield arrived hero from Wanganui yesterday. They left there last week, but made owing to the prevalence of strong southerly wind. , The p.s, Manawatu, tot Wanganui; sailed yesterday afternoon at 5.30. ■ , i s.

The ship St. Leonards is being loaded with all possible despatch. She has now on board 2200 hales wool and a quantity of skins and tallow. The schooner Euby had ta return to port again yesterday, owing to a southerly wind coming on when she got into the Strait. ___
