(RBUIEB’S SPECIAL TO PBESS AGENCY Sydney, Tuesday : The New South Wales team won the International match by three runs and two wickets to spare. The New South Wales Parliament was opened to-day. The speech mentioned that the Government had in course of preparation various measures, including an Electoral Reform Bill and a Public Debt Consolidation Bill. It was also mentioned that there was a probability of the Pacific Mail Service negotiations with New Zealand being brought to a satisfactory conclusion. . ; The All England Eleven are now playing at Newcastle, and have four wickets down for 34 runs. London, December 9. At a conference held in London under the presidency of the Duke of Westminster, Earl Shaftesbury and many members of Parliament were present; one thousand delegates from different parts of the country were also present. Amongst the speakers was Gladstone. He condemned the ambiguous policy of the English Government, and said the nation had a ; right to expect it to be more explicit with respect to its intentions. He said the English nation was unanimous against defending Turkey, and urged cordial co-operation with Russia on behalf of the Christians in Servia, Bulgaria, and other provinces. The British Parliament is summoned to meet on the Bth February. The English Government has admitted the correctness 6f- the American reading of the Extradition Treaty.
