Sugars have advanced in Australia £3 perton, and prices here are consequently firmer, but we hear of no sales at the full advance. Mr. G. H. Vennell offered by auction on Thursday a large quantity of goods by instructions from Mr. Jas.. O'Shea, but only a moderate amount of business was done, the biddings being languid, and the attendance below the average. The following prices were realised:—Younger's ale, quarts, 10s 9d ; pints, 7s Brt per dozen; bulk do, £Blos per hhd; Guinness's stout (Boar's Head), 10s 6d to lis per doz; key brand genava, 9s for case; 8s qr-casks Tower and Lawson's rum, 30 per cent 0.p., 3s lOd per gal; 100 cases Henness/s one star brandy, 335; Vinegrowers' brandy, in quarters, 1872, 8s per gal; 20 casesC.V.P brandy. 21s: Blanchey Freres do, 24s 6d, in bond; Bisquit Dubouche's brandy, d.p., cases, 48s; flasks, pints, 58s; hf-pints, 60s; 100 boxes Gouda candles, lOd; dressed Japan rice, £2410s per ton; eleme raisins, in boxes, 6d; sultanas, 7£d; English crushed loaf sugar, £SO per ton; 10 tons IC sugar, £4310s per ton; bncon, 6d per lb; hams, 9Jd; Canterbury hams and bacon (Green's), 9Jd; Canterbury cheese, 9d per lb; Holroyd's jams, 7s per doz; Morton's salmon, 93 9d per doz; hf-sar-dines, 9s 3d, qr's, 5s 9d, etc, etc. The remainder of the sale was postponed until next Wednesday. In the produce trade prices are unaltered from last week's quotations. Flour is firm at last advance, and Is quoted at £l7 per ton for best brands of Canterbury and Oamaru, in sacks. We understand that several large shipments are on the way from Adelaide, which will necessarily influence prices here. Grain is in full supply and meets with only a dull inquiry, there being a total absence of speculation. Stocks moderately ample. * •' .* AVe are sorry to report the suspension of Messrs. StovensOn and Stuart, with liabilities over £IO,OOO. A meeting of the creditors was held, and an offer made to pay I2s 6d in the £, 10s to be secured, but no positive decision was arrived at. AUCKLAND, Friday. Mr. Alfred Buckland reports:—Wool in grease, 7d. to 10}d.; washed, lid. to 15d. Fat cattle, 275. to 30s. Sheep, 2Jd. to 2}d. per lb.; best lambs, 13s. to 17s. each. ' DUNEDIN, Friday. Wheat.—None offering. Prime samples would command up to 6s. 6d , and in the absence of importations it is likely to go even higher. Oats continue at last quotations, viz., 2s. 2d. to 2s. 3d. for good to prime feed, up to 2s. 3d. for choice milling ; stock very light. Barley, feeding and milling sorts, has met with more inquiry during'the past week; malting, however, is still almost unsaleable, the latter being nominal at 43. to 4s. 3d.; .feeding and milling at 2s. to 2s. 9d.
