The business which this Company proposes to conduct is, as its name'implies, of a twofold character; firstly, to provide security to employers for clerks and others in positions of trust and responsibility; secondly, to grant insurances against injury, or loss of life, resulting from accidents of whatever character. The premiums charged to insurers of both classes will be on the most moderate scale consistent with prudence. Branches are established in Auckland, Canterbury, and Otago, and will be extended to other places in the Colony as occasion arises. Each branch will be under the control of a local Board of Directors, and the Company has been fortunate in securing in this capacity the assistance of gentlemen of the highest standing and greatest experience in the respective localities. The Company will be prepared to commence operations on and after the Ist JANUARY, 1877. Terms and forms of application may be had from the various Agents, or at the Head Office, Wellington. At the pressing request of a large number of the residents of the City, the promoters of the Wellington City Tramways have d-cided to allow the public an interest in their undertaking by forming it into a Joint Stock Company. From careful calculations a return of upwards of 20 per cent, per annum is expected, but the promoters guarantee 10 per cent, from the date of allotment of shares up to the end of 1878. The share list will be only open for a limited period, and prospectuses and forms of application for shares maybe obtained from the Bank of New Zealand, or from the promoters.
