WELLINGTON JOCKEY CLUB.

There was a meeting of the Wellington Jockey Club at the Empire Hotel last night at eight o’clock. The stewards present were Messrs. George Hunter, M.H.R. (chairman), Edward Pearce, M.H.R.) James Macdonald, J. Paul, Andrew- Young, J. R. George, J. Martin, W. Bromley, and Dr. Diver. *■■ The first business before the meeting was the consideration of a letter from Mr. J. O. Hayward, of Masterton, as . to the disqualification supposed to have existed since the March meeting of 1873, of himself and Mr. Mcßae, the owners of horses respectively' named Conundrum and Comet.- After.some discussion, it was resolved that the disqualification (if any) should be waived.

The next question considered was the report of the snb-committee appointed at the last meeting for the purpose of arranging all matters in connection with the alterations to the grand-stand,' booths, &b., at the Hntt racecourse. Plans and specifications prepared by one of the committee for the erection of five stalls adjoining the saddling paddock, for the accommodation of horses competing in the races, four spacious publicans’ booths, two confectioners’ stalls, and a fancy bazaar, were laid on the table and approved of. These buildings are to be erected of wood and iron at an estimated cost of £SOO, and it is to be hoped that the public will give a liberal support to the stewards in assisting them towards such a large outlay. A resolution was passed that nominations for the Wellington Derby for the years 1878 and 1879 should be received at the Empire Hotel on Monday, the 12th Eebmary, 1877,up to 8 o’clock p.m. ‘ A vote of thanks to the chairman brought the proceedings to a close. - ■ .
