She left Wanganulat 11.40 p.m, on Tuesday: crossed the bar at 12.15 a.m.. and experienced fine weather with variable winds till arrival here as above. Reports sighting a large three-masted schooner in the Strait, steering South. The Manawatu will sail for Wanganui at 10 p.m. to-morrow. The schooners Cynthia, Kaiuma, and Star of the Sea, and the brigantine Enterprise from Pelorns Sound, all timber laden, arrived here yesterday. The s.s. Napier arrived here from Wanganui at 2.40 p.m. yesterday. She left. Wanganui at midnight on Tuesday, and crossed the bar forty minutes afterwards. Owing to a slight accident happening to the machinery she was delayed over an honr. She will sail for Foxton to-day at 11 a.m. The ketch Reliance, from Plcton, arrived here last evening with a cargo of timber. She left there on Tuesday afternoon, and had calms and light airs across. Our readers will doubtless remember that ahont a month or so ago a quarter board with the word “ Kebroyd" cut upon ft was found on the West Coast of the Middle Island. It was forwarded to the Customs, Wellington, and placed in a prominent position there, so that it might In time be recognised. By a late Melbourne Argun to hand some considerable light is thrown upon this message from the sea. From that paper we leam that the Kebroyd. a barque of 363 tons, under the command of J. H. Gibbon, arrived at Melbourne on the 22nd October from Singapore, after an extremely long passage of 82 days, which was caused to a great extent by having experienced a nearly two months’ spell of calm weather. From the report In the Argun we find that “she left Singaporeon July- 14th, and had a succession of light airs and calms to AnJcr, which was passed on the 4th ultimo. Strong S.E. breezes then prevailed to lon. 82deg. E., where westerly winds were found In the parallel of 30deg.*8. , The barqne, after reaching lat. 42deg., came Along in that parallel, and after passing Cape Leuwin the vessel’s progress was delayed by easterly and N.E. winds, which lasted for eight days.” From the foregoing it will be seen that no: real heavy weather was experienced, but there is a probability that the board became displaced from the vessel, an 4 that it was set upon this coast by some strong enrrents. However, it is all mere presumption to say whether the board referred to belongs to the vessel, but we hope that the Marine department here will communicate with the proper authorities in Melbourne without delay on the subject. The.sojioonera, Ruby for White Rock, Hannah Barratt for XvtteltonV Bonnie Lass for Pelorns Sound, and Wild Duck for Waitara, sailed yesterday. The topsail-schooner .Endeavour, Captain Dick, sailed for Oamarn at 12 o’clock last night. The ketch Forest Queen, from this port, arrived off Wanganui on Monday.
