Cameron, arrived in port yesterday forenoon at 11.15, from Southern ports. She left Pert. Chalmers at 2.40 p.m. on the £th lust., and arrived at Lyttelton at 7.30 • a.m. on the 6tb: left that port same evening, and cleared the Heads in 40 minutes; had strong head winds "till passing Cape Campbell, when moderate easterly winds prevailed, and continued so till arrival he>e as above. ;She left the wharf at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon for Sydney direct. ' The'schooners Beward, from Havelock, timber ■ -laden, and Aurora, from the East Coast, with a cargo of wool, arrived here yesterday. The Government steamer Stella arrived here yesterday'morning from her first trip on the coast of New Zealand. Her voyage down from onehunga has been marked by some severe weather, which commenced at 12 o'clock on Saturday night last, when a gale from the S.B. broke ont, and bv daylight next morning it ' had Increased to hurricane force, accomnanied with as high running sea. The little steamer behaved as w -11 as might be expected under the circumstances, though proving, as we stated on her arrival here, to be too top heavy. However.- despite the unfavorable weather, she made reasonable progress, and arrived in the French Pass At 7 a.m. on Sunday, where she anchored in company with her bigger sister, the Hinemoa, which vessel had likewise to bring up, owing to the heavy . weather.,, AH night the wind blew as fierce as ever. -* blit next niorning (Monday) it had "abated somewhat Thetwo skippers then exchanged Boats, Captain Fair'child taking the' Hinemoa and Captain Johnston ■ ‘taking the Stella.
