Doubtless with the first northerly wind the most of them will putin an appearance. Messrs. McMeckan, Blackwood, and Co. s s.s. Alhambra, Captain M. Muir, from Melbourne and the West Coast, arrived here last evening at 7 o clock. To the parser We are indebted for oiir files and the following report of the passage Left Sandtidge Pier at B.SO a.m. on the 7th: cleared the Heads at 12.30 p.m., and passed Kent’s Group at 3.40 a.m. on the Bth. The ablp Jesele Headman, Captain Kennedy, left Port Chalmers for this port on Saturday, and should arrive in the middle of the present week. She came from London to Port Chalmers, and made the run in 92 days. The passage was in the main a fine weather one, the only really heavy weather being encountered on the Bth September, when a heavy gale from the N.W. wee met with, which after blowing a few hours shifted to W.3.W., with ji riling barometer. It then backed to the q w and the glass fell from 29 60 to 28.80. The wind again shifted to the N.E., the gale Wowing furiously, accompanied with heavy enow squalls. The Jessie Headman brought to Port Chalmers about 1400 tons cargo, and at London she shipped t wo Clydesdale entires and two mares of the same breed, four shorthorned cows andone trail. andeightLeicesterramsibut one entire, one mare, and the bull died on the voyage. The stock were owned by the Hon. Mr. Holmes and Mr. Webster. The Jessie Headman is announced by Messrs Murray, Common, and Co, to be one of the wool ships of the season to load at this port. The schooner Aurora Is advertised to sail for Castle Point and Wangachu to-day. The ketch Otakl left the harbor to-day bound (or Otaki. The 8.1. Napier sailed for Foxton at 4.30 p.m. heps'. Luna was anchored off Plpilea Point yesterday afternoon. .. The ss Tui should arrive here to-day from the West Coast She will be ptaoed on ths Patent Slip on arrival to receive an overhaul. ■ The departure of the p.s. Manawatu has been altered to this afternoon. The steamer Eaaby will arrive here to-day from Lyttelton, and sail again to-morrow forenoon (or Newcastle direct. Charles Edward will sail for Nelson, Westport, Hokitika, and Greymouth to-day. The brig Neptune., from Newcastle, was reported as being off Karori Rock last evening. The s.s.
